Bring supplies to decorate a poster

Hey guys.  We'll be looking at atoms and molecules this week.  You will start making a 3D molecule  poster in class on Monday, and it would be great if you could brink some supplies - markers, pencil crayons, scissors, rulers etc.

I know this is a last minute message, so don't worry if you don't get it in time.

Thanks,
Mr. Young

Ideas for Chemical Reactions Demosntration

Bill Nye the Science Guy
This site has many ideas for all branches of science.  Focus in on the chemistry demonstrations that are listed.

Science Bob
This site explains the demonstrations quite well.  Go through the list but choose an experiment where a chemical reactions is taking place (remember the difference between a chemical reactions and physical reaction we discussed in week 2).

Science is Fun
A lot of fun demonstrations that can be done in the home.  The demonstrations with red cabbage, chemiluminescence, removing tarnish, gluep, making things glow in the dark, fizzing and foaming are all chemical reactions.

Density Tower (optional assignment)

If any of you are looking for a way to reinforce the concept of density we discussed in class, there is an activity to build a density tower found on page 117 in the grade 7 reading.  This is completely optional, but something worth giving a try if you have the time this week.  There are many videos on YouTube that explain this process.

Please send me a picture of your density tower to post on the blog if you choose to make one.
